The purple cotte has decided it wants to be a sideless surcoat instead. I have indulged it in this wish for freedom to express its true inner-self and we are all the happier for it.

Picture to be provided as soon as I have a dress I can wear under it. Heh.

I'm working on my Purple Cotte right now, it's going to be similar to this dress:

Second from the left, see how she had a blue cotte underneath an over-dress-type-thing? Yes. I am making that.

I am very excited. But, Sasha, you haven't finished the buttons and the hem on the Scarlett Cotte yet, you say.

I know. But after I fought it so hard on the hem in the first place I'm taking a break.

And why aren't you making a houpplande for Roger?

Because he did something to his back earlier this week and can't deal with the fitting right now. Meh. Poor baby.

So I'm working on the Purple Cotte.

Except...First I cut the lining without a seam allowance. So it's going to have to line something else entirely that I also cut without a seam allowance. (Which is fine, I squish nicely and when I lose another 10 pounds it will fit like a dream.) But it won't sew into the purple.

Then I decided to cheat cheat cheat and just line the bodice half of the dress where the grommets will go. So I used my scraps of wool, cut out new lining WITH seam allowance, and sewed it together.

Except I sewed one half of the front on backwards. *FACEPALM*

Ripped it out, sewed it on right.

Set it into the purple, pinned everything down. Sewed it all together and...I sewed it backwards. As in, my seams are facing out because I'm a moron and didn't turn it facing right sides.

*FACEPALM AGAIN*

I think I'm a little TOO excited about this dress, don'tcha think?
